NAUTICAL MUSEUM - ON THE PIER OF CONSTANTA, ROMANIA
The Constanta Nautical Museum project, was the well known and appreciated diploma and bachelor's degree project of Architect Laurentiu Paicu.
The project proposed a complete rehabilitation of the old pier in the naval city of Constanta, Romania, by proposing a complete landscape conversion of the entire length of the pier, ending in a spectacular Nautical Museum complex that featured galleries, study halls, indoor and outdoor amphitheaters, exhibition halls and restaurants.
The focus of the project was to reinforce the tourism in the area and propose an new landmark of attraction through an architectural and landscape marvel.
The concept for the Nautical Museum project was based on the logic of the vibration waves that form in the molecular structure of water that is subdued under a shock effect.
This logic was placed in a parametric field that formed the base of the project’s design. From the architecture and the structure design, to every part of the landscaping and the masterplan, all keep the same parametrical logic.
The detail-work of the project can be found in all its elements. From waving allies and roads, to the bending bridges and squares, all surrounded by a symphony of stream lights that flow along the Museum Complex.
